The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
