The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
