The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
