The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
