The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
