The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night that falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 where then are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
