The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
