The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
