They will ask thee of Dhu'l-Qarneyn. Say: I shall recite unto you a remembrance of him. 83 Lo! We made him strong in the land and gave him unto every thing a road. 84 He journeyed on a way 85 Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu'l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness. 86 He said: "As for him (a disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah) who does wrong, we shall punish him; and then he will be brought back unto his Lord; Who will punish him with a terrible torment (Hell). 87 But as for him who believes, and does righteousness, he shall receive as recompense the reward most fair, and we shall speak to him, of our command, easiness.' 88 He again pursued a purpose. 89 Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no covering protection against the sun. 90 Thus. And We had encompassed [all] that he had in knowledge. 91 And once again he chose the right means [to achieve a right end]. 92 Until, when he came between two mountains, he found before them a nation that did not appear to understand any speech. 93 They said: "O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them? 94 He said: "The ability my Lord has given me is better. So help me with your manual labour; I will build a wall between you and them. 95 Bring me ingots of iron' After he had leveled between the two cliffs, he said: 'Blow' And when he made it a fire, he said: 'Bring me molten copper so that I may pour over it' 96 And (Gog and Magog) were not able to surmount, nor could they pierce (it). 97 He said, 'This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it into powder; and my Lord's promise is ever true.' 98 ۞ And on that Day We shall let some of them surge like waves against others, and the Trumpet shall be blown. Then We shall gather them all together. 99 And We shall bring hell in front of the disbelievers. 100 Those whose eyes had been within a cover [removed] from My remembrance, and they were not able to hear. 101
