The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 that hide, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
