The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
