The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
