The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed and what they had produced came to nothing: 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and utterly humiliated. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 [and] exclaiming: "We have come to believe in the Sustainer of all the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
