The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a Great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 It is a written book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
