The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 a written record, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
