The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the stinters who, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 for a great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
