The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
