The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
