The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
