The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
