The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
