The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
