The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Yes indeed they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
Almighty God's Truth.
