The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
