The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
