The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a Great Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
