The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a fateful Day. 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
