The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
