The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
