The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
