The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
