The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
