The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
