The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
