The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
