The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
