The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
