The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
