The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
