The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
