The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
