The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
