The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
