The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
