The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
