The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
