The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
