The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
