The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
