The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
