The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
